05/16/2019 - Delaware County Public Health will be holding a free Car Seat Safety Event at Delaware Valley Hospital (DVH), 1 Titus Pl, Walton, Sunday, May 19, from noon-2 p.m.
Approximately 75 percent of children are riding in car seat that are not properly installed or do not fit correctly. Parents and caregivers can have their child's car seat checked at no cost by certified child safety seat technicians
This free event will educate parents and caregivers on proper car seat installation and use. Car seats which do not meet the Federal Motor Safety Standard may be replaced. Be sure to bring your child/children to the event and expectant parents are welcome as well. According to the CDC motor vehicle injuries are the leading cause of death among children under the age of 13 in the U.S., but many of these deaths can be prevented. Placing children in age- and size-appropriate car seats and booster seats reduces serious and fatal injuries by more than half.
Funding for this program is made possible by the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee and the National Highway Safety Administration. For more information about this event call Heather Warner at Delaware County Public Health 607-832-5200.
