Five New COVID Cases In Otsego County

DELHI – Delaware County, for the second day, reported no new cases of COVID-19 on Monday. According to the daily release from the County Public Health department, there are 62 confirmed positive cases reported to them by the state. An additional 79 people are under mandatory quarantine. Ten test results are still pending. Four people have died and four are still hospitalized.

Otsego County reported five new cases. Of its 55 total cases so far, four people have died and three are still hospitalized. Mandatory quarantine has been ordered for 25 people.

According to state figures, Ulster County has 877 postive cases of the virus. Sullivan County has 544. Broome County has 199 cases, Chenango has 78, and Greene has 86 confirmed cases.

Governor Andrew Cuomo Monday said there are no plans to reopen schools yet. There were 4,726 new virus cases statewide on Monday, bring the state total to almost 250,000 people. Cuomo called on the federal government to fund a 50% hazard pay bonus for essential public workers.

The governor said the state would deliver half a million cloth masks and 10,000 gallons of hand sanitizer to public housing communities. He also announced SUNY is distributing 8,800 laptops and Chromebooks to students in need to allow them to complete their spring semester coursework.
